About Lauren's House 4 Positive Change:

Lauren's House 4 Positive Change is committed to improving the education and well-being of our community's children and youth. Lauren's House works with at-risk, disadvantaged youth from San Mateo County through programs on Mentoring, Tutoring, Leadership development, Sports, Meals, Transportation, Enrichment outings, Counseling, and Community service opportunities.

The goal of Lauren's House 4 Positive Change as an organization is to build positive, emotional and academic confidence of at-risk and/or underprivileged youths in San Mateo County.

The mission of Lauren's House 4 Positive Change is to prepare low income and/or homeless youths between the ages of 6-18 in San Mateo County for success in life. Lauren's House 4 Positive Change exposes the children and youth to educational opportunities, the arts, culture and community service to demonstrate the beauty and possibility of their lives despite hardships.

Position: Social Media Coordinator

Type: Volunteer Position

Time Commitment: 8-12 hrs/week

Position Description: Lauren's House 4 Positive change is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to create compelling and dynamic content that will build and sustain awareness about the mission and programs of our organization using key social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and blogs. The Social Media Coordinator will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organization to promote the goals, messages, image and awareness regarding the programs offered by the Lauren's House for bringing a positive change in the lives of the low income and/or homeless youths. The coordinator will support the development, implementation and monitoring of social media campaigns across a number of platforms and will write and gather content for electronic publications, social media and blogs.

This is a volunteer position that works as a member of Lauren's House 4 Positive Change and requires participation in regular staff meetings and has the potential for some telecommuting. The candidate is requested to have his/her own laptop and communications tools. In return for the volunteer hours, the benefits to the volunteer candidate may include: job reference letter from the Chief Executive Officer of Lauren's House 4 Positive Change, experience gained while volunteering on various projects, networking opportunities, and current resume entry. Most importantly, you will be helping the organization work towards its mission.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge about all the programs run by Lauren's House 4 Positive Change and communicates the same through key social media sites.
  • Draft content for external communications, blogs and social networking platforms.
  • Use creative means to plan, organize, and implement a range of social media programs and/or events.
  • Contribute to and regularly update external social sites: such as Facebook, Twitter, You tube, and other community sites.
  • Develop content calendar for these sites.
  • Monitor all social media outlets: pages, sites, blogs on a daily basis and post/respond on particular topics or in response to other post/comments.
  • Identify editorial and news materials for newsletter; lay out newsletter in template, oversee distribution and report results.
  • Ability to cross-train other employees on electronic and social marketing related functions.
  • Must be comfortable presenting technical information to interns, management team and staff.
  • Perform other duties leading to successful social media presence for Lauren's House 4 Positive Change.

Qualities and Skills:

  • Experience of planning, testing, launching, monitoring, optimizing and measuring social media campaigns preferred.
  • Expert level knowledge of leveraging social media technologies such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and blogs.
  • Proficiency in using personal computer and various office software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring, and email management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with target population through the use of social media.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written and electronic materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and commitment to professional ethics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and strong commitment to collaboration.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly-organized.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse background.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently and also in a team in a growing organization.
