The Nanubhai Education Foundation (501c3), founded in 2004, is dedicated to improving education in India's rural public schools. We work to encourage both teachers and students to achieve excellence in the classroom, and to use their enhanced English skills to fully participate in India's ever-growing economy. Without strong English language instruction, even the most dedicated students cannot gain access to jobs available to their urban, English-speaking counterparts.
About the Virtual Volunteer Program
The Nanubhai Virtual Volunteer Program is an opportunity to gain experience working with the both the India & U.S.-based teams of an innovative, grassroots NGO. We welcome passionate, motivated individuals interested in improving rural education and providing access to new opportunities for India's students. We are in a period of tremendous growth and Virtual Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Outstanding volunteers are eligible to be considered for future Fellowship placement and other opportunities for advancement within our organization.

History and Impact
The Nanubhai Education Foundation is passionately committed to transforming public education in rural India. Since 2004, we have worked in largely tribal regions in southern Gujarat.
In the Bardoli taluka, our base of operations, approximately 25% of the population lives below the poverty line, and 34.2% of the population is illiterate. In the past decade, the Indian school system has made great strides. Fully 98% of school-age children in Gujarat have access to primary education. Nanubhai's mission is to improve the quality of that education.
Our approach is two-pronged: first, we place American Fellows at boarding schools to help rural students improve both their mastery of and confidence in Speaking English, which prepares them to better succeed both in post-secondary education and later, in the workforce. Second, we offer college scholarships to rural female students who show both financial need and academic merit. These scholarships help families to avoid the perilous debt cycle many fall into in order to educate their children.
Growth and Culture
Nanubhai is a fast-growing organization with an entrepreneurial spirit. We welcome initiative, creative solutions, new ideas and a roll-your-sleeves-up attitude. Our goal is to provide all employees with opportunities to learn and grow as professionals. In return, we ask team members to participate in, challenge and advance our goals through their hard work and unfailing dedication to our mission.
Virtual Volunteers will have an opportunity to become involved with a variety of projects. Through these experiences, they will advance professionally and gain the knowledge to become informed advocates for educational change in India and valuable assets to NGOs. They will gain experience in outreach, networking, awareness-building, strategic social media functions, blogging, developing fundraising campaigns, etc.
The Virtual Volunteer Program is a 6-month commitment. During this time, you will work on a variety of initiatives for Nanubhai and get a behind-the-scenes look at how grassroots NGOs function. During the 6 months, we ask that you give an average of 3-5 hours per week.
