Point in Time Homeless Count Volunteers Needed
Each year, Metropolitan Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) organizes a collaborative effort to count the homeless people in our community. The count is known as the "Point-in-Time" count because it is conducted on one day of the year. The information gathered from the count informs us about how many homeless people live in our community, why they are homeless, and what type of services they need.
In order to conduct this count, volunteers will be mobilized to work at the many homeless service organizations in metro Denver on January 29, 2013.
Desired Skills
What is the time commitment for this study?
The count is conducted on one day of the year, this year on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Volunteers will be asked to commit to a four-hour shift at a minimum. Volunteers will be required to either attend a training session prior to the day of the count or to view a training video online. (As not all locations are open on Tuesdays, we will have limited opportunities to volunteer on January 30 and 31, as well.)
Where are the volunteers needed?
Various nonprofit organizations that serve homeless people in the Denver Metro area.
How will the information be collected?
Information is collected via a survey. Volunteers will interview homeless people and collect information on the survey tool.
