The Junior Blind Olympics is the premier sporting event for blind, visually impaired, or multi-disabled young athletes from across the Western United States. The event provides the opportunity for all youth, despite their disabilities, to participate in challenging, fun and confidence-building activities such as archery, rock climbing and the 50-yard dash. By promoting fitness and self-esteem while offering opportunities for learning, socialization, teamwork and physical activity, the Junior Blind Olympics is particularly valuable in helping youth to develop the skills they need to thrive in adulthood. Through competition, they are encouraged to build on their successes and gain the courage to try new things in all areas of their lives.
About Junior Blind: Since 1953, Junior Blind's mission has been to help children and adults who are blind, visually impaired or multi-disabled achieve independence. Junior Blind offers specialized services focused on early intervention, education, rehabilitation or recreation. Our life-changing programs are designed to empower students to reach their maximum potential. All services of Junior Blind are provided at no cost to students or their families.
There are many volunteer opportunities at the Junior Blind Olympics! Whether you're interested in being an athlete escort (coach), facilitating a competition, doing registration, running the carnival games or stuffing goody bags, there are many ways to get involved.
