Director of Fundraising and Development: fundraising activities to support the 2013 leadership seminar, including solicitation of gifts-in-kind, grants, corporate sponsorship, cooperating organization contributions and special events.
Responsibilities
- Works with Leadership Seminar Chair (LSC) in to develop a Seminar budget and annual fundraising plan/calendar; revises budget and plan, as needed, throughout the year
- Is responsible for activities that will facilitate achieving/exceeding the determined revenue goal.
- Recruits a committee as needed; plans and hosts fundraising committee meetings
- With input from the Seminar Team, develops a Gifts-in-Kind wish list and other solicitation materials.
- Communicates with corporations and other businesses, gift-in-kind donors, and grant-making institutions/organizations.
- Coordinates communication with cooperating organizations, and other local service groups, with input from the Director of Recruitment pertaining to matching sponsorships with registered students.
- Coordinates/oversees fundraising events as indicated in the site fundraising plan, which may include, but are not limited to, restaurant fundraisers, car washes, product/service sales, golf tournaments, auctions, raffles.
- Works with the appropriate Seminar staff to coordinate Seminar-based fundraising efforts, which may include, but are not limited to HOBY Store, photo-DVD sales, College Options DVD sales, Parent banquet.
- Attends Seminar Planning Team meetings: monthly Sept-Feb; semi-monthly Mar-Apr; weekly May through the Seminar
- Turns over copies of relevant documents and communications to LSC for central record keeping.
- Compiles a record of all donors and their contributions for use in the Program Book, thank you letter writing and budget reports
- Ensures appropriate recognition is provided to all donors, including any agreed upon promotional opportunities, as well as "thank you" packages and donation receipts to all donors
- Contributes to other Seminar planning efforts as needed
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be able and willing to work with electronic resources and Excel spreadsheets
- Must have regular access to e-mail
- Must be able and willing to provide a phone number and e-mail address for contact by donors

- Volunteer Resources – library of materials including fundraising ideas, policies, sample/template communications and other support materials
- Alumni function – searchable database containing alumni and parent information
- Volunteer interest forms from 2009 alumni – possible fundraising committee interest
- HOBY International often provides a letter of endorsement from national Cooperating Organizations (like Optimist International) that will encourage chapters to support their local HOBY Seminars.

- Free conference call services are available for committee calls
