We are running a school in a remote village to teach basic English to the poor tribal children in India.
We need volunteers to teach basic English to the children. The children age group are 4 to 10 years.
First Light has built a school in the village called North Sehalli, which is 200 hundred kilo meters from the city Kolkata (Calcutta) and 12 kilo meters from the small and internationally know town Santiniketan. Santiniketan is mainly known because it is the place of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the place of culture and art of West Bengal, India. There is a famous University Visva-Bharati of Art & Culture which was established by Rabindranath Tagore. International students are studying here from various countries. There are more than 700 hundred Santhal Tribe and 170 families living in North Sehalli. There is no electricity, no sanitation, no land, no school for learn English and art... They are loosing now their primitive culture. Now we are running a school in a remote village with more than 70 tribal children.. We need your help to work for the Santhal Community. We also have a crafts camp for community women. We will provide accommodation and food. We will provide English breakfast and mouth watering Indian lunch and dinner. We have a nice volunteer apartment with Fans/lobby/nice and clean toilet with shower/dress-room/balcony/emergency light/hot water/safety locker. The working time is Monday to Friday 2pm to 5pm in the project side and some few hours for office work like discuss future fund raising efforts, report on current projects, official letters etc. The free time you can enjoy to visit nearest famous historical places. You can also study or learn foreign languages or learn paintings, sculpture, Indian classical music, instrument, classical Indian dances or enjoy the music of the BAULS with their typical Indian folk. For this volunteer job we can't pay any money, remuneration or any flight fare. It is a free service for the tribal community. We provide free airport transfers from Kolkata to the project side.
FEES FOR ACCOMMODATION AND 3 TIMES DELISIOUS INDIAN FOOD = 150 USD PER MONTH. (5 USD PER DAY).
