You will be assisting the Tutoring Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator by maintaining steady contact with adult tutor/learner pairs in order to provide any needed resources or support. Your fabulous listening skills and positive conflict resolution tactics will go a long way in helping our tutors and learners navigate sometimes challenging tutor/learner relationships due to cultural differences, unvoiced expectations, or hectic life schedules.
Requirements: Strong organizational, communication and record-keeping skills required. You must be proficient in conflict resolution and possess a confident, patient social manner. Preferred volunteers speak English and Spanish.
Must be able to commit 3-5 hours per week (for 4 months minimum). This position needs to take place in our office (1118 S. Park Street) during regular office hours.
Literacy Network is a non-profit organization made up of teachers, learners, tutors, volunteers and donors all working together to improve adult literacy in Dane County. Our programs teach reading, writing and speaking skills to adults and families so they can achieve financial independence, good health and greater involvement in community life.
