Una Luz en tu Vida respond to the needs of handicapped children and adults of Quero, with relation to physical rehabilitation, special education, psychological therapy, encouragement of general education and discovery, speech therapy, medical assistance, and social aid.
Description of volunteer position The Foundation's team does not have a social worker. To improve the attention given to children, develop visits of families in the communities, and improve the well-being of patients who go to A Light in Your Live, the foundation needs to expand its staff in the field of social work.
-Description of the mission :
Working in close coordination with the team, and visiting families in the communities of the canton of Quero and beneficiaries in outlying zones. The mission of the social worker will also consist of collaborating in the accompaniment and follow-up of beneficiaries (through the improvement of the booklet and working methodology). The social worker's principal objective will be accompanying beneficiaries, taking into account the social, rather than the economic, aspects.
-Long-term goals of the foundation with respect to volunteers:
-To improve the link between the foundation and the families of beneficiaries (the problem of the isolation of families, the shame of some families that contain a member with a disability, etc.)
-To constantly monitor beneficiaries on the subject of health education (awareness, prevention, etc. )

At foundation headquarters (Juan Benigno Vela between Pedro Fermín Cevallos and Bernardo Darquea, Quero, Ecuador)
-Sustainability of the objectives of the NGO in relation to the training:
In the framework of its project of monitoring children with special capabilities, the foundation wants to have a broad view of people who live in Quero canton and who would need the care of the structure. The work done by the social worker will strengthen the foundation, creating lasting and sustainable links with the social environment of each beneficiary (family, structure, etc.), but will also permit the technical team to know which actors in the territory do not come to the foundation to receive a cure. This last point has to do with seeing which communities are less favored, and which represent the focus of the work of A Light in your Life.

Further details The work will not take place entirely at Foundation headquarters but will require visiting the families in the communities surrounding Quero. For visits, the foundation has a van and driver available to the social worker.
