Descripción de la oportunidad de voluntariado

About Casa: Casa Canadiense is a Toronto-based non-profit and Canadian-Nicaragua partnership that supports grassroots community development in Nicaragua and seeks to educate Canadian youth about global issues. We are non-partisan and non-denominational. Our major operations are working with local communities and organizing high school groups to travel to Nicaragua. School groups assist with local initiatives and develop a better understanding of community development and the country. For more information visit www.thecasa.ca

Casa Canadiense has numerous active and exciting committees that you can join.

Communications Committee

Created in 2012, the Communications Committee works on both the internal and external communications of Casa Canadiense. Our work encompasses creating and updating our communications plan, redesigning and up-keeping Casa's website and ensuring our social media is relevant.

We are currently recruiting new members who either have a background in public relations, communications, or are excited to learn! Commitment ranges from 3-10 hours a month. Please contact Misha Baudisch-McCabe at m.baudischmccabe@gmail.com for more information.

Events Committee

Casa has a lengthy history in fundraising events, or "fun raising" events, and educational/awareness raising events. Such events over the years have included numerous auction/brunches, folk music festivals, art shows, films and discussion, and presentations and outreach in various community venues: churches, schools, coffee shops, cafes and bars.

The Events Committee is actively recruiting energetic folks with one or more of the following attributes: fundraising ideas/skills, event organizational skills or experience, budgeting skills, project management background, interest in the arts, involvement in the community, and of course the most important one of all, committed enthusiasm!

To learn more about the Events Committee and/or to join contact at Bill Heffernan at bill.casacanadiense@gmail.com

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets quarterly and works in the areas of financial administration. Primarily, it is concerned about strengthening accountability and transparency of the organization and financial planning.

To learn more about the Finance Committee or how to join please contact Amanda Proctor at amanda.casacanadiense@gmail.com

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee meets once a month in the Toronto area to speak about Casa programs and projects both in Canada and on the ground in Nicaragua. We often create and/or translate documents available to school groups and community partners to better assist our Coordinators in Managua. We organize events and new initiatives in the Toronto area that tackle issues of global education, global solidarity and youth engagement in global initiatives.

Anyone can get involved in this Committee simply by contacting the Chair, Sara Loureiro at sloureiro87@gmail.com. Commitment depends on each member, but ranges from 3-15 hours a month which includes one monthly meeting.
