This is an opportunity for volunteers to experience a typhical Kipsigis culture first-hand. Kipsigis community has its own uniqueness and distinctions that always leave a lasting impression on visitors.
The opportunity to stay and associate with different host-families in different parts of Konoin in Kenya will be arranged. This alone will be an experience and half for volunteers.
All placements include elements of the Home Stay and Cultural Exchange Program. Volunteer(s) will live with a traditional Kipsigis family for a given period. This will provide volunteer(s) with an opportunity to learn about all aspects of Kipsigis life, culture, food and people in general. This will earn volunteers with a cross-cultural experience which they would not have gotten anywhere else.
Anyone who has a keen interest on Kipsigis cultures & traditions is welcomed. The opportunity is suitable for anybody; family, individual or groups.
There is no age limit for this opportunity but we insist that children under the age of 18 years be accompanied by an adult.
Upon arrival, volunteers will be taken through an intensive Kipsigis language training after which, volunteers will be taken to different host-families in village. Through participation in village life, volunteers will experience the different local culture, while sharing their own culture and custom. Also, the volunteers will have the opportunity to visit and help out at the local schools and orphanages/ Baby-homes.
Kipsigis culture is distinctively friendly and open and volunteers or any other visitors are always made to feel as though they are part of the family/ the community.
