Looking for a way to build your portfolio, express your creativity, and utilize your talents, all while helping incarcerated women in Peru? Ruraq Maki is seeking a volunteer graphic designer or graphic design student to help us create print and digital materials for our organization. This is a great opportunity for new designers who are looking to expand their portfolio on a professional level.
Ruraq Maki is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to creating educational and economic opportunities that will empower low-income artisan communities. Currently we operate two programs in South America. The Yanamilla Prison Project, which assists incarcerated women in Peru generate income through the development and sale of their products, and Manos Independientes, creating economic opportunities to rural female Bolivian weavers living in extreme poverrty.
Ruraq Maki's products are hand woven and embroidered, use traditional materials, and women are paid a fair wage for their work. All proceeds from the sale of our products go back to supporting the projectst. Additionally, Ruraq Maki offers free, yearly education workshops to both communities.
