TARA National Association for Personality Disorder is a small, nonprofit organization that focuses on education and advocacy for Borderline Personality Disorder and other personality disorders. Established in 1995, we are funded by donations from family members and membership fees as well as generating funds through fees for our family psycho-educational programs. We operate a helpline, which provides information and referrals to callers. We also participate in professional conferences, nationally and internationally, where we educate professionals on the efficacy of training families to help, on reducing stigma against the person with the disorder and their family, and broaden the understanding of personality disorders through understanding of their neurobiological and genetic basis.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our SoHo office in Manhattan. Duties include: answering helpline calls, collecting data on each caller, responding to emails, setting up psychoeducation classes, corresponding with participants, scheduling consultation appointments, projecting a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction, maintaining database and class records, develop and process surveys, making travel arrangements, operating copy machine and scanner.
