This is Leo, with Volunteer4Free Kenya. We are a free volunteer program based out of Nairobi, Kenya.
We are seeking volunteers to help child patients at Kenyatta National Hospital (Nairobi's main public hospital) learn to read and comprehend English. Child patients at KNH can be there for as long as six months to a year (until their hospital fees are paid), during which, without teachers, their education is effectively put on hold. But volunteers can help these young patients move ahead with their education despite their surrounding conditions, opening doors for them which would otherwise remain closed.
Volunteer4Free Kenya's hospital program is supervised by coordinators with over seven years' experience in hosting international volunteers. Volunteer opportunities with the program include teaching English to children, as well as organizing games, and visiting with various patients. The program offers volunteers a unique opportunity to make a difference in a needy community, meet new people, and acquire a new culture in a foreign country. And best of all, they can do it all for free!
