Join the New York City Coalition Against Hunger for the 10th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Anti-Hunger Serve-a-Thon taking place on Monday, January 21, 2013. The goal of the Serve-A-Thon is to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday by bringing New Yorkers together to take a "day on, not a day off" by volunteering at food pantries and soup kitchens.
Last year, 350 volunteers came together to support the message of Dr. King and continuing mission of NYCCAH to ensure economic and food self-sufficiency for all Americans. This year, we have projects taking place all weekend long and across the five boroughs. Want to do outreach on SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits in highly-trafficked supermarkets? How about painting and reorganizing a facility that will house a new or existing food program? And, of course, we have a wide range of meal service to take part in!
Volunteers can sign up alone or in a group - get your whole office involved! Check out the list of projects at all of our host sites and contact us for a request form. Applications must be received by January 14th, but requests will be met on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get yours in soon!
Email our Volunteer Coordinator at egargiulo@nyccah.org for a volunteer request form, or with any questions you may have about the event. Requests will be taken until January 14th, or until volunteer positions are filled.
