11th annual Decatur Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project on the weekend of Jan. 19-21. Volunteers will work at City of Decatur senior citizens' homes, making greatly needed repairs and doing yard work that the elderly homeowners have been unable to afford. Experience doing repairs to your home and light carpentry is helpful. Volunteers may work one or more of the following shifts:
- Saturday, Jan. 19: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Jan. 20: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, Jan. 21: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
There is a minimum age of 12 to volunteer, unless they are volunteering through a supervised organization such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Please check first before signing up a youth group. The Project is sponsored by the Decatur Preservation Alliance (DPA) in partnership with the City of Decatur.
