We are seeking volunteers for an assignment with a federal agency as a Russian interpreter and translator with an active secret clearance to serve as a dedicated translator/interpreter/conference planner for a period of up to 130 days beginning in February 2013. This opportunity would require you to become a member of the NLSC. There is no membership fee to join the organization and all members of the NLSC are volunteers but are paid a stipend for any hours worked. This is not a full-time position, but rather an assignment that requires an individual with the skill set below.
NLSC Membership requirements:
- You must be a U.S. citizen
- You must be at least 18 years old
- If you are a male, you must have registered for Selective Service
Assignment requirements:
- Active Security Clearance – Secret or higher security clearance is required
- Willingness to devote full-time work for a period of approximately 130 days
- Residence in Tampa, FL preferred (non-residents: willingness to travel to and stay in Tampa for the full duration of the assignment required)
- Professional translation experience (English<>Russian)
- Conference planning / logistics experience
- Consecutive interpretation experience in large and small groups
- Knowledge of military terminology or experience working in a military setting
- Willingness to take a language test administered by the NLSC Language Assessment Team
- Willingness to be federally hired
