Arcadia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the Washington, DC area. Our mission is to improve the health of our community, support the viability of local farmers, and preserve the environment for future generations.
The Arcadia Farm Field Trip program helps students make the connection that healthy, fresh food comes from the earth. It also familiarizes students with new fruits and vegetables that grow near Washington, DC, so that they will be more likely to eat those healthy foods when they see them in the cafeteria or at home.
Volunteer Farm Educators help make field trips to Arcadia Farm safe, educational and fun. They help monitor the space, provide instruction and supervision, and assist with general garden maintenance. We will host groups of up to 60 elementary school students from Washington, DC and northern Virginia schools on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to one Wednesday, Thursday or Friday each week from 9:30am to 2:30 per week from April 1st to June 15.
