Descripción de la oportunidad de voluntariado

TASAAGA a Ugandan non-profit organization is running a healthcare project targeting the rural populations on Kimi Island and we are organizing a medical camp for medical professional volunteers who are willing to render free medical services to disadvantaged poverty affected people in Uganda. Kimi is an Island on Lake Victoria the second largest lake in the world. This Island although it is only 30 minutes away from Ngamba Island which is the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, it is one of the Islands in Uganda with the poorest population with no access to healthcare services at all. It is now six months since TASAAGA started making outreaches to this Island with an aim of enabling people on it to access healthcare services. The most common cases of diseases on this Island is Malaria and HIV/AIDS related diseases. The camp will last for only three weeks but will be an experience you will never forget in your entire life. Those interested in conducting health education sessions for people living on the Island are welcome to apply. The Camp will be starting from 10th June 2013 to 29th June 2013. Although we mostly looking for volunteers with a medical/public health training background, those with no back ground in medical training are welcome to apply too because they help in the management and administration of the project for the three weeks. However, they must not be below 18 years of age.

Each volunteer will be expected to bring his or her own tent and a contribution of US$100 per week for food. And each volunteer will cater for their flight arrangements to Uganda and TASAAGA will cater for their in-country travel and transport to and from the project site.
