Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization that works to expand life opportunities for at-risk elementary school children by empowering them with strong literacy skills. Tutoring with Reading Partners requires absolutely no prior experience in education just individuals interested in helping a student improve their reading!! We work directly with schools in low-income communities to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring for students who read below grade level.
This specific opportunity is at Wheatley Elementary School located at 1229 Neal Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
Monday January 7th, 2013 until Thursday January 31st, 2013, tutors are need at:
8:45AM - 9:30 AM
9:35 AM - 10:20 AM
10:30 AM - 11:15 AM
12:30 PM - 1:15 PM
1:25 PM - 2:10 PM
2:20 PM - 3:05 PM
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working one-on-one with elementary school students reading below grade level
- Tracking student progress using Reading Partners tools
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willingness to learn about tutoring strategies
- Patience working with students who need help learning
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups
- Ability to commit to a schedule and show up promptly when expected
