Join a Dynamic Virtual Volunteer Team
The Nanubhai Education Foundation (501c3), founded in 2004, is dedicated to improving education in India's rural public schools. We work to encourage both teachers and students to achieve excellence in the classroom, and to use their enhanced English skills to fully participate in India's ever-growing economy. Without strong English language instruction, even the most dedicated students cannot gain access to jobs available to their urban, English-speaking counterparts.
By working with and mentoring young public school teachers, we are able to empower them to become more effective educators. We also conduct area-wide trainings to reach more experienced teachers, and partner with schools, NGOs, and social enterprise groups across India to stay on the cutting edge of transformative educational practices.
About the Virtual Volunteer Program
The Nanubhai Virtual Volunteer Program is an opportunity to gain experience working with senior staff members at an innovative, grassroots NGO. We welcome passionate, motivated individuals interested in improving rural education and providing access to new opportunities for India's students. Virtual Volunteers work closely with senior staff based in India to energize and build our base of supporters by raising awareness, spreading our message of educational equity and connecting donors to fundraising opportunities. We are in a period of tremendous growth and Virtual Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Outstanding volunteers are eligible to be considered for future internship placement and other opportunities for advancement within our organization.
We are currently accepting applications for the Virtual Volunteer Program.
The final deadline is February 28th 2013.
See below for details.
History and Impact
The Nanubhai Education Foundation is passionately committed to transforming public education in rural India. Since 2004, we have worked in largely tribal regions in southern Gujarat.
In the Bardoli taluka, our base of operations, approximately 25% of the population lives below the poverty line, and 34.2% of the population is illiterate. In the past decade, the Indian school system has made great strides. Fully 98% of school-age children in Gujarat have access to primary education. Nanubhai's mission is to improve the quality of that education.
We partner with committed schools, principals, teachers, and NGOs in order to improve classroom instruction and inspire students to excel. By focusing on quality English language instruction, we prepare our students to participate in India's rapidly globalizing economy.
Growth and Culture
Nanubhai is a fast-growing organization with an entrepreneurial spirit. We welcome initiative, creative solutions, new ideas and a roll-your-sleeves-up attitude. Our goal is to provide all employees with opportunities to learn and grow as professionals. In return, we ask team members to participate in, challenge and advance our goals through their hard work and unfailing dedication to our mission.
