The Outreach Coordinator position is an exciting opportunity to build your own professional network, create and grow partnerships in both the nonprofit and for profit communities, interact directly with clients and learn about the career development process. It is a true opportunity to support the transformation of low income individuals on the path to self sufficiency.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Outreach Coordinator charged with supporting WFO's career development programs to expand the reach of said programs and deepen relationships with clients. This position reports to the Manager, Build a Career Programs and is in charge with the following responsibilities:

  • Research new potential partners (both nonprofit and for profit). Lead information meetings with strong prospects to recruit new clients into the career development programs
  • Maintain relationships with current Pathways partners
  • Work in all career development programs, including Pathways, Success Series and the alumni programs
  • Manage and track Pathways program participants to ensure maximum client engagement
  • Develop a system to digitize career development program applications
  • Build upon systems and processes created to manage recruitment into career development programs and develop standard practices and timeline
  • Develop strategy to engage alumni in recruitment for the Pathways program and lead alumni trainings on recruitment practices

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in community outreach
  • Willing to embrace change and test out new ideas
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and a comfort working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Strong and professional phone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen organization
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities efficiently
  • Creative and entrepreneurial thinker that works well both independently and within a team environment
  • Excited to be a part of a mission-driven organization and ready to make positive changes in low-income communities
  • Prior experience in a low-wage position a plus

Since 1995, Wardrobe for Opportunity (WFO) has worked in partnership with the community to assist low-income individuals in their efforts to "Find a Job, Keep a Job and Build a Career." WFO provides critical services that bridge the gap and equips low-income jobseekers with the tools they need to secure employment. Our programs empower the working poor with the skills they need to advance in the workplace. You must complete the 2 step application procedure and be available to attend the all-expenses paid AmeriCorps VISTA Pre-Service Orientation (PSO) from April 16 - 19, 2013.
