Description: Hope Foundation works in collaboration with a number of orphanages and social centres in Cameroon to provide assistance to deprived children who have been orphaned due to familial hardships. Working with orphans has proved to be an eye-opening and wonderful experience for our past volunteers. It is an amazing and positive feeling to work with children who have a completely different vision and outlook on life.
Volunteers will carry out various tasks at their assigned orphanage centre, including preparing children for school and assisting them with homework, organizing recreational and sporting activities, cleaning and counselling. There are so many challenges where volunteers together with the staff of these orphanages work as parents for the children, who sometimes ask many questions, play too much, are sick from time to time and more.
Taking part in this extraordinary program you will be involved in many amazing experiences with others international volunteers and Cameroonian people, besides you will bring an unforgettable experience in the lives of many children in Buea. Other amazing experiences in the form of cultural exchanges (food, dances, clothing and celebrations) are waiting for you!
Needs / Requirements: This project requires extremely motivated and flexible volunteers who like being around children and who are prepared to act as a big brother or sister. Volunteers are expected to prepare various activities which they will carry out with the children during their stay in Cameroon. Such examples of activities are computer studies, painting, arts and crafts, music, cooking, photography, sewing, foreign language lessons, and cultural excursions such as visits to theatres, zoos and film shows. In addition, plenty of recreational activities and games are carried out as well.
It is recommendable to prepare some small goodies and sweeties for the kids when preparing to come to Cameroon. You can have these as gifts and small tokens to children once you are in Cameroon during your project and stay.
