THC – Housing Families, Transforming Lives is seeking volunteers with knowledge of environmental issues, and basic earth science to join our garden team. This volunteer would be expected to run 1-2 hour workshops relating to the environment for youth between the ages of 5-11. They will collaborate with the garden team to make sure that the youth participants get a basic understanding of how urban farming/gardening can be part of the solution to hunger issues. This volunteer would also have the opportunity to assist with the garden, build meaningful relationships with youth participants and assist in creating a holistic gardening program with volunteers and THC staff.
THC is a non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services, including case management, employment and career development, life and parenting skills, and youth enrichment services to more than 500 homeless and at-risk families in DC so that they can make transformational changes in their lives.
