Do you have a background in media relations and PR? Passionate about spreading awareness of pancreatic cancer? We could use your help for PurpleStride San Diego 2013! We are currently recruiting members for our media committee that would be responsible for:
- Working with the Public Relations Specialist to strategize and develop a media action plan.
- Cultivating relationships with local media contacts to ensure they are familiar with the organization, the affiliate and the event.
- Using templates to draft press releases, media alerts, calendar advisories and Letters to the Editor.
- Working with volunteers to identify potential human interest stories.
- Researching donated TV, radio and billboard space as well as potential media sponsors.
- Sending each media contact a personal thank you after the event and following-up with any promised documents, images, etc.
PurpleStride San Diego 2013 is an annual 5K Run/ 1 Mile walk event hosted by the local affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. PurpleStride events nationwide contribute millions of dollars toward the mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to advance research, support patients and create hope. Funds raised help provide personalized support for patients and support research grants and advocacy efforts to increase federal pancreatic cancer research funding.
