Descripción de la oportunidad de voluntariado

IEFT has an open position for a volunteer entrepreneurship project manager starting as soon as possible.

IEFT is a registered non-profit organization that collaborates with rural communities in northern Tanzania to provide quality, affordable secondary education to indigenous children. IEFT operates the Orkeeswa High School, which is populated by motivated students and an upbeat and welcoming staff. The school is in place to influence a rural corner of northern Tanzania through the education of its youth.

Job Description:

IEFT is looking for an energetic person to volunteer as an entrepreneurship projects manager for the Rural Entrepreneurship Development initiative at Orkeeswa High School. We are looking for applicants who are creative and adaptable, with the vision to take a developing program to a higher level. The program will include a combination of classroom based entrepreneurship education with applied field business development. Following the course the students will be able to apply to fund their business startup through the school. The goal of their entrepreneurship development is to be profitable enough to save towards their university studies, and develop the capacity to thrive under high unemployment and limited financial resources. The job will be heavily field based and independent.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and fund student businesses proposals.
  • Spending time in the field with students working to implement their businesses.
  • Helping students to physically construct infrastructure and engineering processes of production.
  • Discovering and developing new markets for possible student businesses.
  • Working with students to promote loan repayment and savings.
  • Assist with the classroom entrepreneurship education component.
  • Work closely with a Tanzanian partner, and a dynamic international staff.
  • Monitor progress of start-ups and solicit advice continually.

Qualifications:

  • Strong command of the English Language
  • Preference to persons with agricultural experience.
  • Commitment of at least one year
  • Adaptability to challenging living and working conditions in a developing country
  • Diplomacy, good judgment and ability to work across different cultures
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy

By working together with IEFT staff and volunteers, you will benefit from a real sense of global solidarity, lasting friendships, and the life-changing impact of a unique and meaningful experience. You will gain a deeper insight into a different culture and experience things that broaden your perspectives.

This position may include a small stipend to cover modest living expenses for qualified applicants.
