Descripción de la oportunidad de voluntariado

ASANA is a very small, local conservation organization operating along Costa Rica's Central Pacific Coast. We conceived and got government designation of the Path of the Tapir Biological Corridor - one of the biggest and most important corridors in Costa Rica. We also are about an inch away from getting the Savegre River Watershed - the Path of the Tapir's northern sector - declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve...

Until recently, our total annual budget was about US$8000. In the last couple of years, we've managed to get ourselves on track to professionalize and ramp-up the organization. We made an initial investment in a website (www.ASANAcr.org), but since that first surge, we've not been able to do much with it. It has been stagnant for more than a year now.

We need help in three areas, one pretty straightforward, the other two perhaps not so much so...:

1. The easy one:

Content Update – We need someone simply to help us take content and put it into the right place in the website. This would require reviewing the site, assessing where it needs content, requesting that content from our Board and staff (only one person right now who speaks only Spanish…), and then entering it.

2. The not so easy ones:

a) Website Structure and Control – We hired a firm to develop the site and our understanding was that they would use a platform that we could access and use to change not only content, but also structure. Currently, however, we can modify only content. The developers used Joomla. Any time we wish to make a change or add something to the site, we have to pay the website developers, and we simply do not have the financial resources to do so. We want to explore the possibility of setting up our website so we have more control over its structure, in addition to the content.

b) Social Networking – We do nothing…. We would love some help exploring how we might tap into social networking options.

We are assuming that all of this work can be done virtually/remotely and would not require travel to Costa Rica....
