Live Below the Line Campaign Manager for Milaap.org

Looking for a chance to do some social good while gaining professional experience? Milaap.org, a social enterprise based in Bangalore, India, is looking for student leaders based in the U.S. to help manage theirLive Below the Line campaign this Spring.

Milaap.org is a social enterprise that enables people around the world to give loans to the working poor in India. Milaap's portfolio is focused on the next generation of microfinance, which concentrates on providing sustainable sources of income to India's families. Through Milaap, people are able to gain access to basic essentials like clean drinking water, quality sanitation, and renewable energy. Other areas of the portfolio focus on vocational training for students and enterprise development for small to medium sized businesses. We are also focused on financing school infrastructure as well as providing working capital for all types of entrepreneurs.

Milaap.org has entered into a partnership with Live Below the Line, which challenges communities and individuals across the U.S. to live on $1.50 a day to experience what extreme poverty is like and to raise funds for partner charities. Milaap is looking for community leaders who are interested in hosting and managing this campaign in their church community, school, or corporation. Applicants should be self-motivated individuals who are able to execute and ensure the completion of tasks in a timely resolution. We are looking for dedicated folks across the U.S. who can spend 6-8 hours each week to help us in hosting this campaign in their community. You can be based anywhere in the U.S. for this position and we will be able to provide you with all the resources and marketing tools you need in order to execute this project.

Expectations:

• Organize the Live Below the Line fundraiser in your community.
• Recruit people to participate in the campaign and join in fundraising.
• Network and give presentations on the campaign on behalf of Milaap.
• Promote the campaign through word of mouth, email appeals, and social media efforts.
• Support those who sign on to the campaign and organize events during the Live Below the Line week.
• Stay in contact with the Milaap staff via phone calls, Skype calls, and email. Must be available to talk at least once a week.

Requirements:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Sharp interpersonal and networking skills in a business context i.e. ability to interact with people of other cultures, languages, capacities, and organizations.
• Ability to work independently and implement Milaap's social mission into campaign frameworks.
• Demonstrates self-initiative and ability to organize and manage large groups.
• Available by phone and easy access to the Internet. We are mostly based in India so will need the Internet to communicate.
• A commitment of 3 months. The campaign's global dates are April 29- May 3 (although if you are interested and your community is unable to participate that week, you can schedule your challenge during another nearby week).

Perks & Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. However, the top three fundraisers during the Live Below The Line Campaign will be eligible for an all expenses paid summer internship with Milaap in Bangalore, India. Even if you are not selected for one of the internship positions, you will receive an international professional experience that will be supported by a letter of recommendation from Milaap Social Ventures. Campaign Managers will also be eligible for scholarships to premier social enterprise and networking conferences in the U.S.
