EHN are a joint UK / Nepali NGO who place paying volunteers in city and rural projects that help benefit the respective local community. The fee of £10 a day that we charge is split with 70% going to the home stay, 10 to 20% going to the school or project you work with and the remaining money going to EHN to continue finding and helping communities in need.
One of the projects that we would like to peruse is a mobile medical clinic for rural villages. We have seen many clinics built but not used by the locals as they don't want or can't walk down to the centre therefore go untreated. EHN has a good working relationship with many rural communities that we place teaching volunteers into. This means we can organise the mobile drop in clinic easily but we need medically trained volunteers to come and work with us to offer health advice and medical assistance to those who need it.
This is a brand new project and to the best of our knowledge has never been done before in Nepal so the type of person we are looking for must be willing to volunteer their time, be medically trained and enjoy trekking.
The project will run over a 2 to 4 week period and take in several rural villages in the mountains of Nepal. We are looking to use any existing medical centres, classrooms or community halls to hold the drop in clinics with the volunteers staying in home stays in each of the villages they visit.
If the trekking mobile clinic is a success and we can get medical assistance to those who wouldn't normally get it then we would like to take the mobile drop in clinic to every part of Nepal.
Please only apply if you have relevant medical qualifications and would be happy to spend a minimum of 2 weeks trekking and living in rural Nepal.
