Descripción de la oportunidad de voluntariado

Welcome. Karibu.

WE HAVE A TARGET OF SPONSORING 100 PUPILS FOR 2013

please donate or volunteer in teaching with our partner schools.

Kimori Academy, Kobel Mission School, and Kimarwandi Progressive School. All three schools are located in rural Kenya in Konoin District. AHADI is working with the schools in making sure that the disadvantaged children, the poor and orphans get quality education.

Founded in 1999, Kimori Academy is a low-cost school that provides quality education and living quarters to 525 children between the ages of 4 and 15, including orphaned children. The school is located in Bomet County, part of Kenya's former Rift Valley Province. It is a mixed day and boarding school. While most of the students belong to the Kipsigis tribe, there are some from other tribes including the Massai and Ogiek. The school has a dedicated staff.

Our vision is to develop a school that will be able to respond adequately and easily to changing demands of the community in social and technological fields. We seek to assist pupils to develop academically and morally into responsible adults. Teachers and other staff members act as role models and provide the students with guidance, while also holding the pupils to high academic and social expectations.

In its short history Kimori has already achieved great successes, having more pupils scoring high on their final exam and being admitted into the prestegious national schools, than any other private school in the area in 2011. Many students have gone through Kimori Academy and are now attending universities, including one student studying at Standford University, in the USA.

The school has semi-permanent classrooms and some permanent ones. It has semi-permanent dormitories for boys and girls separately. It also has an administrative office and staff room. We would like to construct a library, more classrooms, and permanent dormitories.

Kobel Mission School was founded in 2007 near Mau Forest with only 12 pupils. It has since expanded to host more than 300 pupils, both day scholars and boarders. In 2013, the school will be represented by its first standard eight class on the KCPE to go onto secondary school.

The most recent of the three schools, Kimarwandi Progressive School was founded in 2009. It is situated along the edge of Mau Forest and has a scenic view, overlooking fields, a stream and tea plantations. This picturesque location has posed some challenges though, as the land is very steep and erosion is prevalent. It is difficult to transport water from below to the school. For this reason a system has been set up to harvest rain water.
