Spend your days experiencing traditional farming at its best. Set deep in the district of Chitwan where you can get the chance try your hand at traditional farming. Every wanted to milk a buffalo or plant rice the hard way. Even get behind two oxen and a wooden plough to see just how farming has remained the same for centuries in the rural heart land of Nepal.
Description of Placement- This is a placement for people who want to see the hard life of real Nepal, you will get the opportunity to go to a place where the many things have changed over the last hundred years but the hardships of farming have remained the same. Live alongside the family and help them work in the flatlands of Nepal. Depending on the season will see you do many different jobs from milking the buffalo to planting rice the old way. It's not for the faint hearted but it shows the real differences in today's world.
Placement Location- The location for this placement is a small village called Ganganagar set deep in the district of Chitwan in the South of Nepal. Its sub tropical weather allows rice to grow in abundance which provides the stable diet of many Nepalese. Nearby is the Chitwan National park where you can get th chance to view crocodiles, rhinos and if you're lucky the tigers of Asia. It's a small chance but you can see firsthand the constant borders of man and nature surviving side by side.
Accommodation- Will is provided by the local families in the village with each one carefully selected so at least one member of the family speaks good English in order that you can communicate effectively. Also you will find that the local families in the home stay programmed have been chosen because they also have good standing in the community and can introduce you to the traditional Nepalese village life.
