Ten Thousand Villages Holiday Shopping Night Program
The holidays will be soon upon us and we are welcoming applications for the 2012 Holiday Shopping Nights Program. This year there will be 20 nights running from October 15 through December 15.
This program was developed to provide a fun alternative way for local non-profits to raise funds and awareness while also promoting fairly traded handicrafts from our artisans. Your event starts at 6:00PM and ends after all customers have been served, but no earlier than 8:00PM on your shopping night. To support fund raising efforts Ten Thousand Villages Seattle will make a donation based on the net sales of the evening to your organization.
Donations are given based on the amount of net sales occurring during the event.
Sales under $500 receive a 5% donation
Sales $501-$700 receive a 7% donation
Sales $701-$1,000 receive a 10% donation
Sales over $1,000 receive a 15% donation
We can work with your organization, if you would really like to participate with a morning slot instead of the standard 6 - 8 PM slot. Holiday Shopping Nights are awarded on a first come, first served basis and do fill quickly. Once the applications have been collected I will contact you to confirm your shopping night and talk about any ways we can help to promote your evening. The night of the event a representative of your organization should be present for the full two hours along with any hand outs, signs or goodies you wish to share with customers. Following the event we will contact you to give the final net sales figures and your donation amount.
The most successful events have been well promoted within the sponsoring organization's own membership because they are your best supporters. We will provide your organization with an Idea Sheet explaining how other groups have spread the word and will create a pdf. event poster for your Shopping Day. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of promotional materials and are happy to help with any other materials you might be interested in. Spreading the word within your membership and supporters will increase event attendance and ultimately the donation your organization receives.
