What is Capital Good Fund?
Founded in 2009 by Brown University alumni Andy Posner and Mollie West, the mission of Capital Good Fund (CGF) is to provide equitable financial services that create pathways out of poverty. Specifically, we offer to low-income individuals individualized Financial Coaching, unsecured loans for specific purposes—such as starting or expanding a small business, purchasing a computer or applying for US Citizenship—and free tax preparation through the IRS VITA program. Since our founding in 2009, we have disbursed 276 loans totaling $262,776.30, provided free tax preparation to 223 people (returning $275,000 to the community) and graduated over 180 individuals through Financial/Business Coaching. What is a "Brand Ambassador"?
A "Brand Ambassador" is just what it sounds like—a representative of CGF whose goal is to increase awareness of our organization and our role in combating poverty. Ambassadors will use their Twitter and Facebook accounts to continually reach out to those around them. We are hoping to leverage the social nature of Twitter and Facebook to see real results in the general awareness of the state of poverty and—in turn—real results in the battle against it.
Responsibilities:
NOTE: You DO NOT have to be a local resident of Rhode Island to participate in the CGF Ambassador Program; you can be an ambassador anywhere in the U.S.!
As a CGF Brand Ambassador, you will take part in an innovative program designed to raise awareness about poverty in general and about CGF's approach to tackling poverty in particular. The first generation of the program launches February 21st, 2013 and ends May 14th, 2013.
To become a successful CGF Ambassador, you need to be: · Socially active on Twitter and/or Facebook (you Must have at least one of these accounts to be considered) · Passionate to see an end to poverty in our own neighborhoods · Comfortable using Google Drive/Docs applications (and Twitter/Facebook, of course) · Willing to communicate with the Capital Good Fund staff on a regular basis through email, conference calls, and video conferencing (Skype or Google Hangouts).
A Brand Ambassador will become well-versed in CGF initiatives and our place in the community. We will provide education and training regarding our mission, services, and partnerships—the goal being that you will be able to speak as confidently about CGF as any full-time employee.
Frequent Twitter/Facebook updates and network interaction about their involvement with CGF will be encouraged. You will be expected to reach certain monthly goals for number of quality posts, number of referrals, etc. If you do well, you'll even be rewarded with CGF swag and even your own, super-professional CGF Brand Ambassador business cards! Most importantly, you'll gain invaluable work experience while collaborating with an enthusiastic team that is dedicated to fighting poverty and restoring economic justice.
