Renewable Energy Courses

United Nations University-Institute for Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) is happy to announce the new intensive four week Postgraduate Courses on Renewable Energy that will be held from the 25th February 2013 to 23rd March 2013 at the United Nations University Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan. The courses were developed under the framework of the University Network for Climate and Ecosystems Change Adaptation Research (UN-CECAR). UN-CECAR is a collaborative initiative of more than 20 leading universities across Asia. It is committed to developing postgraduate educational and research programmes on climate and ecosystems change, and sustainability science. UNU-ISP acts as the Secretariat for UN-CECAR. This pioneering programme will help prepare students in the Asia Pacific Region to take the lead in providing renewable energy solutions to development needs with sound environmental management practices.

The objectives of the programme are to understand broadly and comprehensively renewable energy issues in the context of science, technology, socioeconomic, policy and energy society, and develop renewable energy systems considering sustainable development. The new courses will include energy demand and supply, small hydropower, solar energy, geothermal energy, bioenergy, wind energy, marine energy systems, fuel cell and hydrogen energy system, energy economics, policy, security and politics. Participants will also receive practical training in the use of RETScreen and HOMER. It is a unique postgraduate programme with contributions from leading universities in the Asia Pacific.
