In this four week certificate course, participants will explore how mapping, social media, and mobile telephones can effectively support the work of conflict prevention and management. The course will feature case studies from Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, and Libya among others, and draw on relevant conflict prevention and resolution theory to arrive at best practices for using technology in conflict-affected settings. Participants can expect a dynamic and interactive learning environment with a number practical and hands-on activities and simulations aimed at developing tangible skills and strategies in use of technology for conflict prevention and peacekeeping.
The course is designed for conflict management professionals to assist them in understanding the roles of technology in conflict prevention and peacekeeping. No specific technological skills are required for the course. Participants will be able to:
