Indego Africa ("IA") is an innovative nonprofit social enterprise that empowers women through market access and education. IA partners with cooperatives of female artisans and sells their handmade jewelry, home décor, and accessories on its e-commerce site (shop.indegoafrica.org), to boutiques, and through design collaborations with major brands including Anthropologie, DANNIJO, J.Crew, Jonathan Adler, Madewell, and Nicole Miller. IA pools 100% of profits from sales with grant support and contributions to fund job skills training programs for its partners in business management, entrepreneurship, literacy, computers, and health, all of which are taught by Rwandan university students. Through sales, women earn income to meet their families' basic needs. Through training, women gain the tools to become financially independent.
Indego Africa has offices in New York City and Rwanda, and is managed by a lean and diverse team with extensive experience in development, business, design, law, and Africa.
