The Iyengar Association of New York (IYAGNY), a 501c3 non-profit organization, was formed by a dedicated and inspired group of teachers and practitioners in 1987 as a regional branch of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS).
The Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York is a non-profit organization and Institute whose aim is threefold: to establish a central place for study and instruction that embodies the highest standards of a transformational practice of yoga, to support the teaching of Iyengar yoga throughout the region, and to connect our practitioners with others throughout the world and the source of our inspiration – living yoga master and teacher B.K.S. Iyengar.
Now in its 26th year, IYAGNY is primed for expansion. With an annual operating budget of $1.4M, and offering more than 70 classes per week to hundreds of students at all levels from its flagship teaching Institute in Chelsea, it serves approximately 1,500 members in the four states of its charter—New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. It has opened its second Institute in Brooklyn this past summer 2013.
