HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA) strengthens communities through volunteer action and leadership development by creating opportunities for people to volunteer, learn and lead in their communities. We envision a day when everyone is inspired and equipped to be the change they wish to see in the world. HOBA serves as a single point of contact for volunteers, nonprofit agencies and corporations who seek the highest quality volunteer program development, management and civic engagement opportunities. Each year, over 10,000 HOBA volunteers meet the needs of more than 200 community-based organizations. We strive to provide a high-quality volunteer experience that fuels further action.
HOBA coordinates and manages more than 80 direct-service projects each month through our calendar projects which are open to the community. For volunteers, HOBA offers convenient scheduling to accommodate a range of commitment levels. HOBA's web tools give volunteers an easy to way manage their participation, create teams and learn about new opportunities. HOBA also gives volunteers opportunities to deepen their knowledge of community issues through its book clubs, film screenings and discussions. HOBA's leadership training programs give volunteers a chance to develop personally and professionally.
Additionally, for corporate clients, HOBA creates customized service projects as part of our Hands@Work (H@W) program. Through the H@W program, HOBA designs and manages projects for corporations that want to support their employees in giving back to the communities where they work and live. Current clients include Google, Charles Schwab & Co., Gap Inc., The Home Depot and Levi Strauss & Co.
HOBA is an affiliate of the HandsOn Network, an international alliance of more than 300 volunteer organizations working to build community through service and civic engagement.
