BPE combines the experience of two organizations that have led the way in urban school improvement: the Boston Plan for Excellence and Boston Teacher Residency (BTR). BPE builds upon its legacy of more than 25 years of driving education outcomes and innovation and commits to nothing less than student success. We believe that every child should have the right to a quality public education and that Boston can be the first city to fulfill this basic promise of our democracy. To accomplish this vision, we engage in three major strategies: 1) preparing and supporting diverse, highly effective teachers for Boston's schools through a best-in-class teacher preparation and development program; 2) ensuring broad student success in partner schools by cultivating ambitious instruction in every classroom with a coherent, data-driven approach to school improvement; and 3) creating break-the-mold new schools that ensure all students are prepared to succeed in college and career.
