Terre des hommes movement was created in 1960 as a child rights organisation. Today it implements field projects in partnership with local NGOs in the sector of development cooperation, child rights, community development, campaigns, awareness, advocacy and capacity building. In 2006, 11 Terre des hommes organisations run about 1000 child rights, emergency and cooperation field projects in 64 countries; advocacy on child rights and development cooperation; campaigns, capacity building of partners. Terre des hommes launched in mid 2005 a Regional Child Protection Project (RCPP) for South Eastern Europe. At the end of the pilot phase, in January 2007, Tdh decided to concentrate the efforts of the RCPP to contribute to the overall goal: children in migration are better protected against exploitation. To this aim, Terre des hommes established in 2006 an advocacy/capacity building office with Hungarian legal entity in Budapest.
The functionality of the Tdh office in Hungary is divided in four axes:
Research & Development at European level,
Support to national advocacy / awareness, media work in Tdh's countries of intervention in Europe
Awareness, Sensitization & mobilisation at the European level,
Campaigning Methodology & information management.
