Graduate Professional Studies (GPS)–GPS is a one semester program that will introduce you to graduate coursework, while interning or researching in DC. The program is designed for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree and are looking to build the career foundation needed to succeed in today’s job market, strengthen graduate school applications, or start earning graduate credit toward a future degree.
Washington Internship for Native Students- offers American Indian/ Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian students the opportunity to build leadership skills while living, studying, and interning in Washington D.C.
Washington Semester Program- Washington Semester provides students with unequaled academic and professional experience. Their semester includes a seminar, internship, and elective drawn from the AU course offerings or a supervised research project. Program seminars and internships make targeted use of the Washington D.C. area’s federal and local government institutions, private organizations, and public interest groups, to enrich the academic experience. The Washington Semester program is offered in the summer, spring, and fall semesters.
Graduate Certificate in Project Management and Evaluation - Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of projects is fast becoming a critical management function in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector as donor organizations seek more accountability in the funds they donate. Our program will equip you with the skills necessary to design and implement program-based M&E, enabling you to advance within your current nonprofit organization with skills that are in demand.
Test Prep Courses– Preparatory course to take the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT exams. Sessions are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
English Language Training Academy- The English Language Training Academy (ELTA) at American University offers customized, short term programs for groups or evening courses for individuals for non-native English speakers.
