The Afghanistan Blind Women and Children Foundation was founded on August 28, 2009 and has been recognized by NY State as a non-profit foundation. The objective of the foundation is to provide financial support to improve Afghan women's healthcare, thus allowing an increase in their quality of life and independence. Medical services will include prenatal and childbirth care, vision services, nutritional guidance, disease prevention and the treatment of critical mental and physical illnesses.
Furthermore, the Foundation's seeks to provide children with education in the field of literature in Persian, Pashtu and English. The science curriculum includes chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics. Additionally, the Foundation will promote computer technology among the blind children population. In order to promote higher education and career-building, the organization will offer evaluation and rehabilitation services.
