Tackling the causes of poverty and injustice internationally through advocacy and skillsharing.
We work with people of all faiths and none.
Founded in 1940, Progressio is an independent charity, which works with people of any religious belief and none to make a difference through an integrated approach to development, combining advocacy and skill-sharing. Progressio has its roots in radical Catholicism and has a close relationship with the progressive church in a number of countries.
Progressio is working for justice, development and the eradication of poverty through a combination of technical assistance, partnership and advocacy for political change in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia. We publish numerous books and newsletters on a range of issues, lobby political groups and are engaged in raising public awareness.
Progressio recruits skilled professionals (development workers) to work with partner organisations in the South to make a real difference in development. Sustainable development also requires changes in policy so we also undertake advocacy work to seek solutions, often based on our experience in the field.
Working in partnership with communities and organisations in the South, Progressio strives to address poverty, exclusion and injustice in some of the poorest countries in the world. It is an organisation driven by the perspective and priorities of its southern partners and communities they represent. As well as sharing skills to assist in basic development, Progressio also seeks to support partners in organisational development and institutional strengthening. International solidarity and learning are also hallmarks of our work through publications and exchanges.
