Palestine Works is a new nonprofit organization that engages and harnesses the expertise of young professionals to make sustainable contributions to Palestinian communities. We seek to connecting young professionals committed to a better future for the Palestinians to work opportunities with the organizations building that future today.
Our first initiative, the Law Fellowship Project, connects US and Canadian law students to internships with human rights organizations and universities serving Palestinians in the Occupied Territory and Palestinian citizens of Israel.
Palestine Works has partnered with over 15 organizations and universities in Palestine and Israel to host our summer legal interns. More than 10 of these positions are exclusively for our students. We recruit students through law school presentations, public-interest career fairs and online resources. The students' travel, housing and living expenses are principally covered by grants from their law schools. We help them find supplemental funding, if necessary. To give our students a complete view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its consequences for human rights, we hold an international law orientation and organize weekend programs throughout Palestine and Israel. Our students commit to a legacy project in the semester following their internships - scholarship, an academic conference, or a creative project - that builds on their summer work.
