African Revival is a UK registered charity with operations in Uganda and Zambia, whilst also supporting projects in South Sudan. All projects are focusing on improving the quality of education for children in primary schools. The charity was established in 2005 and registered with the Charity Commission for The United Kingdom and Wales in 2006, and subsequently registered in Uganda and Zambia.
The organisation is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets bi-monthly to discuss projects, ensure financial soundness, and guide the direction of the charity. The operations of African Revival are comprised of the office in the UK, the office in Uganda, and the office in Zambia. In the UK, the CEO, the Finance Officer, and the Fundraising Team are leading both our fundraising activities and organisation-wide financial management. The offices in Uganda and Zambia are both the designers and implementers of projects in the supported schools.
Over the past year, African Revival has been working to develop a model for future interventions in primary schools in Uganda and Zambia, and in longer term in South Sudan. The main objective of this model is to enhance the quality of education in the supported primary schools. Four focus areas were identified and these now form the holistic whole that is the AR model. The areas are; School Management, School Environment, School Performance, School Sustainability. The work on this model is still on-going and is currently being piloted in Ugandan primary schools.
Our budget target for 2012-13 is set at £850,000 which is split between Uganda, Zambia, and South Sudan, whilst the UK office is funded through un-restricted funds. Uganda remains the biggest operation (with 15 staff members) and is spearheading the development of projects but we have ambitious plans for the future where we wish to roll-out the model from Uganda in first Zambia and then South Sudan.
