PROJECT ON ORGANIZING, DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, AND RESEARCH (PODER)
2013 YEAR-ROUND AND SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN MEXICO CITY
One of the first organizations of its kind, Project on Organizing, Development, Education, and Research (PODER) is an award-winning corporate transparency and accountability not-for-profit, non-governmental organization. Its mission is to improve corporate transparency and accountability in Latin America and to strengthen civil society stakeholders of corporations as long-term accountability guarantors. PODER accomplishes this by leveraging business intelligence, transparency technology, and community organizing to ultimately build a citizen-led corporate accountability movement.
- Selected interns will join an award-winning, innovative, young corporate accountability organization. PODER was the recipient of the prestigious Stewart Satter Family Grand Prize in the NYU Stern Business School Social Venture Competition in May 2009 and, in 2010, PODER was awarded Echoing Green and Ashoka fellowships.
- Interns will receive hands-on training from strategic corporate researchers and/or systems professionals with experience in business intelligence and analysis. Potential research issues include human rights and labor abuses, environmental violations, and public and private sector corruption in Mexico and Latin America.
- Exceptional interns may be invited to assist with capacity building and community organizing. Some may even join the PODER team in a full-time position.
- This is not a traditional desk-based internship. Once trained, interns will work on active corporate accountability projects. Interns will build upon their existing knowledge, skills, and talents to play a vital role in PODER and its partner organizations.
