Immigration Equality, a non-profit organization advocating for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV-positive immigrants and their families, seeks a communications intern for our NYC headquarters in the Financial District.

The Immigration Equality Digital Communications Intern will work with our digital strategies manager on digital engagement strategies. The Digital Communications Intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with the daily operations of an in-house non-profit communications team; to learn about digital strategy, content creation and management, digital communications, such as social media, email and blog content, and receive exposure to and participate in strategic marketing and messaging for online immigration rights audiences.

The Digital Communications Intern will have the opportunity to work with the digital strategies manager to structure the internship to meet his/her educational and career goals.

Scheduling for the internship hours will be flexible. The internship will be available the Spring and Summer of 2013.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to immigration rights and equality for LGBT and HIV-positive immigrants
  • Interest in learning and working on digital strategy for the non-profit sector
  • Experience with research, conceptualizing, developing strategic communications programs
  • Skills in measurement and statistical analysis of online data and marketing
  • Devoted to collaboration while also taking direction well
  • Knowledge and experience with image editing software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Attention to detail, team player
  • Additional qualifications in HTML, CSS desirable
