Cultural Tourism DC, a small nonprofit with a friendly and flexible atmosphere, seeks a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational and people skills. Must be experienced in writing, cold calls, and Internet research as well as have a passion for Washington's arts, culture, and neighborhoods.

Cultural Tourism DC is a coalition of more than 230 arts, heritage, cultural, and community organizations throughout the Nation's Capital. We help Metro-area residents and visitors experience Washington's authentic heritage and culture.

This unpaid internship is best suited for a recent college graduate, or a graduate student, with a background in buisness, entrepreneurship, tourism, or other relevant field and an interest in nonprofit management.

Cultural Tourism DC offers an innovative, immersive, and valuable year-long internship program that caters to the specific studies of recent college graduates. The intern will have an opportunity to contribute to the work of the development department in a substantive way. The internship includes professional development training, opportunities for cross-departmental work to gain broader experience, and special outings to member sites.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with identifying, soliciting, and obtaining contracts and other funding for programming from both the public and private sectors.
  • Conduct preliminary market research and competitive analysis.
  • Assist in the development of a business plan for new business development ideas.
  • Provide support for the development of the tourism and youth initiatives.
  • Assist in crafting and executing contracts, memorandums of understanding and other documents and proposals
  • Generate communications and maintain business development files, electronic and hardcopy.
  • Provide administrative support to the development department and other departments as needed including, but not limited to, filing, phone coverage, mailings, database entry, and photocopying.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate studies
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Knowledge and/or interest in entrepreneurship, research, business, cultural tourism, arts and culture, and/or nonprofit management
  • Must be willing to make a long term commitment (6 months – one year)
  • Database experience a plus
