Pasantía

Pasantía publicado por: William James Foundation

Publicado el: 03/01/2013

Descripción de la pasantía

The William James Foundation (WJF) finds, supports, and rewards entrepreneurs who are integrating their social and/or environmental values into new for-profit companies. We have been doing this for ten years, primarily through our socially responsible business plan competitions. Examples of companies we have worked with in the past can be found here:www.williamjamesfoundation.org/pastentrants.

The WJF is seeking half- to full-time interns and fellows for the spring and summer of 2013 to help with the logistics of our socially responsible business plan competitions and work on other specific projects. We work with folks at the undergraduate, graduate, mid-career, and retired level and will adapt the internship to fit specific interests. All interns will receive a broad overview of the world of sustainable business and insight into how to develop a business plan.

This is a structured educational process -- all interns will receive extensive feedback and be asked "what did you learn today?" on a regular basis.

Conference Logisitics Internship

This person will work closely with the Executive Director to organize the WJF's Annual Gathering, which will take place in July 2013. This is a good opportunity for individuals seeking a career in event planning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research potential conference sponsors
  • Draft materials to advertise the conference and to be used during the conference
  • Research potential speakers & vendors
  • Manage Annual Gathering logistics
  • Data entry and other administrative duties as needed

Internship Logistics

All interns & fellows will work from our Washington, DC office at the 920 U Street location of the Affinity Lab, a co-working space that is one block from the U Street metro stop. These positions will be open until filled. There is no salary or stipend for these positions.

Applicants must be highly fluent in written and spoken English, have basic computer skills, and be comfortable doing research by web and telephone. We can be flexible about scheduling, but as we will put a lot of time into your training, a commitment of at least 20 hours per week for three months is ideal.
