Our Organization
The Fund for the Public Interest is a non-profit group started in 1982. Our mission is to build support for the nation's top progressive non-profit groups and help them win their campaigns. Over the last 20 years, we've helped over 40 organizations widen their base of support, including the Sierra Club, Environment America, USPIRG, Progressive Future and the Human Rights Campaign. We tend to focus our work on the most critical environmental and social justice issues. Last summer, our offices helped update the Clean Water Act, repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and make elementary school lunches healthier.
The Project
To ensure success on our Summer 2013 campaigns, this spring we are hiring leaders from the top colleges across the country to work on our campaign staff. We will be visiting schools to hold information sessions and interviews, posting online, using social media to spread the word and contacting students all over the country.
Internship Description
The Recruitment Outreach Intern will work with our team of professional recruiters to run this project, including outreaching to career centers to schedule visits, using social media and online job postings to find candidates, and responding to candidates' inquiries about the positions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for environmental and social justice issues, be a hard worker ready to learn with hands-on experience, and have a good sense of humor. Leadership and project management experience a plus.
Hours
We are looking for someone to work 5-15 hours per week, depending on their schedule. Start and end dates are flexible, but we would like to have someone as soon as possible.
