Friends of UNFPA is seeking a college or graduate student or a recent college graduate to support the organization's marketing and communications needs. The work schedule is flexible, but the candidate should expect to work 16 to 20 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or undergraduate looking to hone their writing and communication skills to creatively contribute to a great cause – supporting UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund. The Marketing and Communications intern will assist with both online and offline communications. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Friends of UNFPA is the official support committee for UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund. UNFPA works to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Friends of UNFPA advances this global effort by mobilizing funds and action for UNFPA's lifesaving work.
Essential Functions
- Manage general and donor inquiries for the Marketing and Communications Department
- Research, write and edit content for multiple communication platforms
- Enhance the organization's creative and digital storytelling
- Assist with efforts to grow Friends of UNFPA's supporter base
- Support special projects and conduct outreach as needed
- Other tasks as directed
Qualifications
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Excellent organization and communication skills, must be able to work independently
- Adept at coordinating multiple tasks, projects and meeting deadlines
- Interest in international development, women's health and rights and communications
- Experience in web content management systems preferred
- Experience with engaging supporters through social networks a plus
